The decision that will affect the outcome of the world

This won't affect just me, or the city, but the entire world. You all know the nex-gen console are coming out. In case you don't know the specs. on them yet, let me tell you.

XBOX 360 (Basic next-gen upgrades)
- Upgraded graphics
- Bigger harddrive
- New "profile" customization for XBOX Live
- Customization of controllers and of XBOX 360 itself
- Controllers are not changed, only start and back buttons are repositioned
- New digital camera (sold seperately)so you can put your picture on your "profile"
- Backwards compatible
- System link enabled (not confirmed)

- Big game push -- Halo 3

PS3 (Total overhaul)
- Blue Discs, able to hold more data creating better graphics, longer games, more details
- Bigger harddrive
- New controllers
- New processor
- 100 x's better graphics
- More online gaming
- System link enabled (not confirmed)
- Backwards compatible with PS1 and PS2
- Digital camera enabled (sold seperately)

- Big game push -- Killzone 2, Ratchet and Clank, Jax and Daxter

Nintendo Revolution (Basic next-gen upgrades)
- Upgraded graphics
- New harddrive installed
- Ability to download any and all past Nintendo games, including GameCube
- Backwards compatible with GameCube
- New controllers
- Online gaming
- System link enabled (not confirmed)

- Big game push -- Zelda, Mario, Metroid

This is the decision I have to make, which to get? Because when I get one, I won't be able to get the other for a few years (my parents, more specifically my dad, will get pissed for having two consoles). It is between PS3 and Revolution, XBOX 360 isn't even in the picture. I am always a Nintendo fan first (for consoles), so I wasn't even considering the other consoles. But after seeing the Killzone 2 trailer, I began thinking twice. If you haven't seen it, check it out. http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=1668 (view the Kikizo Direct Feed E3, one) This trailer, is actually not a trailer at all, but in game footage. I repeat, the video is actual gameplay, no CGI cutscenes or touching up, that is what the game will look like the entire time you play. I was dumbfounded when I saw it, and it made me reconsider, should I get it first? This is my predicament. And a tough choice it will be.

Got questions about next-gen consoles? Watch their E3 press conferences. http://www.gamespot.com/e3/e3live.html

mmhmm, you know i'm getting the ps3 if i choose to get a next gen

first: i enjoy your writting on games and such. many livejournals are blase and needlessly concise (sometimes mine), but yours keeps up.

the question that each of us will ask ourselves is coming more into discussion everytime new footage or console specs. are released. whether we look to the past and stick with nintendo, or whether we accept it as our first (which we always remember fondly) and move on to a more evolved medium. i say this because the ps3 looks to become a gamer's dream, a practical home entertainment system for the new technology coming out, a bragging piece for the rich and famous, plus many more unseen uses. it's allready easy to see all the new mtv cribs episodes where every player and biker has his/her own next gen console and mathcing tv shrine.

the revolution just isn't sounding revolutionary by any means. i am just about ready to stop calling it that, because so far the equipment looks like the black boxes i see piled up at pawn shops. maybe nintendo is being revolutionary by pissing off a large chunk of their fanbase by withholding info. instead of pandering to every clique imaginable with each new game. some of the results have been magnificent, but more than enough have been pitiable at best.

the x box 360: behemoth's own. microsoft is putting out another console which will hopefully keep me more interested in more than 5 titles. and i still haven't played ninja gaiden. make it 4.

back to the ps3: glorious. i don't need to waste more space with these words. just two more with a roman numeral: final fantasy 7. yes, the new one.

I totally forgot about FF 7. Another great title to look forward too. I guess I am just more of a FPS player, because everytime I watch the Killzone trailer, I am just in awe.
